The following is an outline of the many activities that are included in your trip. We would be more than happy to give you suggestions on how to spend your free days. You are not required to take part in any of these activities, but we strongly recommend that you do so you can experience the beautiful island of Bali in its entirety.
Day 1: Welcome to Bali
Arrive in Bali! Settle into your room at the youthful and lively La Walon Hotel. Rest up or take a dip in the pool before we all meet up for a Welcome Dinner.
Day 2: Surf Lesson
Catching waves at Kuta beach is an essential experience in Bali. Today we'll head off for a four hour group surf lesson with Big Kahuna Surf School. The lesson, taught by certified local surf instructors, covers all the basics of surfing. If you’re eager to continue practicing your new skills, surfboard rentals are widely available at Kuta beach. The remainder of the day is yours to keep practicing or hang out in Kuta.
Day 3: River Rafting
An exhilarating ride down the Telega Waja River will surely be one of your most unforgettable adventures, filled with laughs and splashes. Paddle through terraced rice paddies, jungle cliffs and the occasional waterfall. A tasty lunch at a restaurant overlooking the rapids you’ve just conquered is the perfect end to an awesome day.
Day 4: Daytrip to Padang Padang Beach
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in Kuta and then join the group for a trip to Padang Padang beach. With crystal clear water, multicolored shells and gentle waves, this stunning stretch of coastline on the Bukit Peninsula is our favorite beach on the island. We’ll eat a packed lunch and enjoy a perfect lazy afternoon before returning to Kuta for dinner.
Day 5: Uluwatu Temple and Firedance
A free morning offers a chance to catch a few waves, a few rays, or a few new outfits. Eat a late lunch before 4:00 p.m., when we depart for. The cliffside Uluwatu Temple is perched high above the crashing waves of world renowned Uluwatu beach, popular with big wave surfers. Donned in appropriate sarongs, we’ll walk along the cliffs toward the temple where we’ll watch a fascinating, traditional Kecak dance telling a beloved story from the Ramayana as the sun sets in the background.
Day 6: Daytrip to Ubud and Sacred Monkey Forest
Ubud, the cultural center of Bali, is known for its impressive arts and crafts. Upon arrival, we'll first visit Ubud's Sacred Monkey Forest where we'll watch the inhabitants as they preen, dine on bananas, and care for their young. You're then free to enjoy a full day in this creative center, visiting galleries, museums, restaurants, or the many unique shops Ubud offers. We'll return to Kuta in time for dinner.
Day 7: Free Day, leave at 1:00 a.m. for Mt. Batur
A perfect day to lounge because when 1:00 a.m. hits we are off to hike Mt. Batur under the stars. We'll hike this steep volcanic mountain in the company of professional guides who will assist us and answer questions about the sacred mountain. Once we reach the top, the stunning sunrise makes every step worthwhile. After eating a packed breakfast and exploring the volcano a bit, we'll hike back down and head to the nearby Kintamani pools and lakeside hot springs, an ideal place to unwind after the hike.
Day 8: Mt. Batur and Hot Springs
We will return to Kuta in the early afternoon, tired but relaxed. The remainder of the day can be spent napping, relaxing at the pool, indulging in a spa treatment, or further exploring Kuta.
Day 9: Northern Bali
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for the Bedugul region on the Northern side of the island. Lush and mountainous, Begugul offers sparkling lakes and memorable views. We’ll stop by the Lake Bratan Temple where our guide will discuss the temple’s meanings and functions. Next up is a short hike down to the Air Terjun Waterfall. Along the way we’ll see interesting local flora like cocoa trees, pineapple plants, clove trees and vanilla vines. We’ll then visit the Air Panas Banjar Natural Hot Springs, where we’ll relax in these beautiful springs and enjoy a tasty lunch. We’ll arrive back in Kuta in the late afternoon. The night is yours to wander, shop, dine, or play.
Day 10: Depart for the Gilis
After an early morning departure from Kuta we’ll head across the sea by boat and arrive at the tiny island of Gili Trawangan around lunch time. With a population of 800, this island is charming, friendly and totally relaxing. With stunning beaches, turquoise water and a mellow atmosphere, this little isle will provide us with a vacation within a vacation. We’ll settle in at the intimate Blue Beach Cottages, right on the beach. Unpack or hit the beach before we meet up for a Welcome to the Gilis meal.
Day 11: Gili Trawangan
An entire day dedicated to relaxing and enjoying the warm, sunny atmosphere. You're welcome to join the group for a leisurely bike ride around the island on a small path, taking in the views as we go. The rest of the day can be used to lounge on the beach with a cool drink, swim, snorkel, book an optional scuba dive (scuba not included in trip price), or patronize the local bars and restaurants. Try the fresh seafood barbeques; they're popular and delicious.
Day 12: Daytrip to Gili Meno
With a population of only 300, Gili Meno is the least populated of the Gili Islands. After a short boat trip to the island, we will snorkel at various secluded locations. Lunch will be on the island and the evening is free.
Day 13: Back to Bali
We’ll return to Kuta and check back into the La Walon. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon before a night out with the girls.
Day 14: Last day in Kuta
This is the final day of shopping for souvenirs, surfing Kuta beach, eating favorite Balinese dishes and spending time with new friends. We’ll laugh our way through a farewell dinner together as we discuss our favorite memories from last two weeks and exchange contact information.
Day 15: Heading Home
Have a last pineapple pancake or dish of gado gado before we take you to the airport for your flight back home. Bon voyage!
