Itinerary

The following is an outline of the daily trip activities. All activities are optional, though we strongly recommend that you attend each so you can experience the beautiful island of Bali in its entirety. We are more than happy to give suggestions on how to spend your free time.

Day 1: Welcome to Bali
Arrive in Bali! Settle into your room at the Kuta Puri Bungalows. Take a dip in the pool, a walk on the beach, or a quick rest before meeting up for our Welcome Dinner.

Day 2: Northern Bali and Hot Springs
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel before we depart for the Bedugul region on the Northern side of the island. Lush and mountainous, this region offers sparkling lakes and memorable views. We’ll stop by the Lake Bratan Temple and our guide will discuss the temple’s meanings. Next up is a short hike down to Air Turgen Gitgit Waterfall. Along the way we’ll see interesting local flora like cocoa trees, pineapple plants, clove trees, coffee trees and vanilla vines. We’ll eat lunch together at Air Panas Banjar Natural Hot Springs, and then enjoy a relaxing soak in these beautiful, sulfurous springs before heading back to Kuta in the late afternoon. The night is yours to wander, shop, dine, or play.

Day 3: Padang Padang beach and Uluwatu Temple Firedance
After breakfast we’ll head out on a daytrip to Padang Padang beach. With crystal clear water, multicolored shells and gentle waves, this stunning stretch of coastline on the Bukit Peninsula is our favorite beach on the island. We’ll eat a packed lunch before returning to Kuta in the early afternoon. There will be time to relax before we depart for the Uluwatu Temple and Firedance. The cliffside Uluwatu Temple is perched high above the crashing waves of world renowned Uluwatu beach. Donned in appropriate sarongs, we’ll walk along the cliffs toward the temple where we’ll watch a traditional Kecak dance telling a beloved story from the Ramayana as the sun sets.

Day 4: River Rafting
We’ll depart at 8:00 a.m. for river rafting. An exhilarating ride down the Telega Waja River is unforgettable and offers lots of laughs. We’ll paddle through terraced rice paddies and jungle gorges featuring waterfalls. A tasty lunch overlooking the rapids you’ve just conquered is the perfect end to an adventurous day. The evening is all yours.

Day 5: Arrive in Ubud
Today we leave for Ubud, the cultural center of the island. We’ll check into the lovely Artini Three Cottages and Spa, set next to green rice paddies. Settle in and regroup before enjoying a Welcome to Ubud meal together.

Day 6: Sacred Monkey Forest
After a lovely breakfast at Artini Three, we’ll head to the Sacred Monkey Forest and watch the inhabitants as they preen, dine on bananas, and care for their young. In the afternoon, enjoy a complimentary spa treatment before heading out to explore Ubud, with its great dining, shopping, art galleries and museums. Or, opt for foot massage upon your return. The evening is yours to mingle and get to know this fascinating town.

Day 7: Cooking Class and Market Visit
In the morning, our Balinese chef will lead us through the traditional open-air market where we’ll purchase ingredients for use in class. We’ll then learn to prepare Balinese favorites like sate, gado gado, and nasi goreng. At the end of our lesson, we’ll dine on the delicious dishes we’ve just made. Your apron is yours to keep, and you’ll also take a recipe book and new cooking skills home with you.

Day 8: Traditional Balinese Village Visit
Enjoy a relaxing morning before we head out for a walk through a traditional Balinese village where we’ll meet a local family and see the rice paddies up close. We’ll then return to Ubud for an afternoon of pampering at a local spa featuring pools, steam room, sauna, and spa. Enjoy an included Spa treatment.

Day 9: Batik Course
Indonesia is famous for the art of batik, and Ubud produces some of the best batiks in Bali. Learn how to manipulate hot wax and create beautiful designs on cloth. Our local instructor will explain the history and many approaches to batik making. The rest of the day is yours to wander through the batik stalls with a new appreciation for this art form.

Day 10: Depart for the Gilis
After an early morning departure, we’ll head across the sea by boat and arrive at the smallisland of Gili Trawangan around lunch time. Feature population of 800, this island is charming, friendly and utterly relaxing. With stunning beaches, the bluest water and a mellow atmosphere, this little isle will provide us with a vacation within a vacation. Settle in at the intimate Gili Exotic Villas, a mere minute from the beach.

Day 11: Gili Trawangan
The entire day is yours to enjoy and relax. Savor peaceful moments at our lovely hotel or enjoy a cool drink at the beach. Share a delicious meal with new friends. The fresh seafood barbeques are popular for good reason and should not be missed.

Day 12: Daytrip to Gili Meno
With a population of only 300, Gili Meno is the least populated of the Gili Islands. After a short boat trip to the island, we will visit to a bird park, snorkel at various secluded locations and enjoy lunch on the island.

Day 13: Gili Trawangan
Another day dedicated to relaxing and enjoying the warm, sunny atmosphere. We’ll bike around the island on a small path, taking in the views as we go. The rest of the day can be spent at the beach swimming, snorkeling, or scuba diving (scuba not included in trip price). In the evening, you might patronize the local bars and restaurants, or enjoy a moonlit walk on the beach during you last night on this charming island.

Day 14: Back to Bali and Farewell Dinner
We’ll return to Kuta and check back into the Kuta Puri Bungalows. Enjoy a last afternoon of shopping for souvenirs, eating favorite Balinese dishes, and spending time with new friends. At our farewell dinner we will share favorite moments from the last two weeks, laugh plenty and exchange contact information.

Day 15: Depart Bali
Have a last pineapple pancake before we take you to the airport for your flight back home. Bon voyage!
